Ideal Team: Battery and fuel cell hybrid systems
On 24.01.2006, Dr. Jens Baganz, Permanent Secretary in the Economics Ministry of the German state of North-Rhine Westphalia, presented Dr. Marc Zoellner, Chief Executive of HOPPECKE Batterien GmbH & Co. KG, with a letter authorising the spending of 1.75 million euro.
As part of the REN programme for "Efficient use of energy and utilisation of inexhaustible energy sources" the BBH-MH project "Battery fuel cell / hybrid systems for materials handling" has been launched. This innovative project will now be sponsored by the Ministry for Transport, Energy and Regional Planning of the state of North-Rhine Westphalia. Partners in the project are the companies HOPPECKE, Proton Motor and the Linde Group. The first prototype of an electric lift truck powered by fuel cells should be ready for use by the time of the Football World Championship in 2006.
